Pop Up Box Card Tutorial

Isn't this adorable??? This is a "Pop Up Box" card! It folds closed to fit in a standard size card envelope too! I taught this "It's all in the Fold"as part of an origami class at Hobby Lobby.

Tutorial:

Start with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of scrapbooking paper.

Step 1 - Fold it in half - both ways.

Step 2 - Fold the long sides in to meet the middle fold.

Step 3 - Open it back up and it will look like this.

Step 4 - Fold each corner down so it meets the middle fold and open back up.

Step 5 - Do the same for the bottom corners too - fold each one up to meet the middle fold - open back up.

Step 6 - NOW - this is the trickie part....fold the top and bottom to meet the center fold line again.

Step 7 - Hold your hand on the left side up to the middle vertical fold line and manuever the diagonal fold lines so they fold the opposite way (click on the picture to get a better view).

Step 8 - Looking at the picture above, fold over the right side that is white to look like the picture below.

Step 9 - It appears as if your paper has wings in the picture above....fold those back as shown in the picture below.

Step 10 - Now your card should look like this, once you get those wings folded back.

Step 11 - Fold back the white area showing in the photo above.

Step 12 - Go back to Step 7 and do the same thing to the left side - it helped if I opened the whole thing up again...but this might be a little confusing until you actually get one completed.

Step 13 - This is what your card should look like - again, click on the photo to see a larger view with more detail.

When you open the card - it becomes a box and when you close it again it is a flat card.

The paper above is from Hobby Lobby. The stamp sets are Stampin' Up!
The paper below is SU's retired Wintergreen Designer Series.

This is the card we made for the class - don't you LOVE those new star punches!!!!

Cards that MOVE!

FINALLY!!!! I'm sooooooooo far behind on all my cards...here are the cards everyone will be making at my next Hobby Lobby class on Wednesday - 2/27 at 10am and 6pm. If you haven't signed up yet.....call me!!!! OR email me!!!! I have openings in both sessions and will be bringing extra cardstock with me just in case you want to sign up as late as Wednesday!

Everyone loves a card they can play with and these fit the bill!

This is a suspension card - the HAPPY BIRTHDAY appears to be suspended in mid-air!!! I used the Older & Wiser stamp for the little kid - it says "your childhood dream has finally come true" and when you open it - it says "you're finally older!" The printed paper is from Hobby Lobby and the round HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the FREE Sale-A-Bration (SAB) stamp set called So Many Scallops. I punched it out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and punched the hole it's suspended from with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. The flowers are punched with the retired Daisy punch on Pixie Pink cardstock.

This is a Double Slider card - when you pull on the "heartfelt" layer, the "thanks" layer pops up too!!!! Isn't it pretty? I used Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery and Basic Black cardstock for this card, along with the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set.

This one is a little hard to see....so click on the picture and it will enlarge it. This is a Shaker card.....there are microbeads in the circle with the ladybug! This lady bug is from the retired Very Punny stamp set. I also used the On the Spot background stamp on the red card base...this is hard to see here too. The flowers are punched with the new Boho Blossoms punch and the little pieces in the opposite corners are made with the 5-petal Flower punch....very cool idea!

This card is called a Flip/Swing card and they are super fun! I have a template made to help make this card super easy. I LOVE this stamp set - Crab & Co. and LOVE the matching wheel too. We'll be doing some masking on this card too. If you click on the picture, you'll notice that I used wiggly eyes on the crab!!! FUN!

Email Problem Solved....

...well, kind of.....my email address has been black listed on a site that monitors SPAM. I don't know how this happened or why. But after countless hours on the phone with my IP (internet provider), I finally got a hold of someone with some knowledge - he is my HERO! It could be that someone accidently identified my address as spam or maybe they got tired of getting emails from me about stamping....UNBELIEVABLE, I know.....and they put me in the spam folder. There's a website called www.desorbs.net that will blacklist you without your knowledge and that is what has happened to me! OH YEA! I have tons of time to deal with this one! LOL

If you have not received an email from me by the 1st week in March - your IP probably has me on that naughty list. You need to call them up and tell them to stop blocking my email address. That's it!

DO THIS right away. You don't want to miss my March newsletter!

Email Problems

I am having serious email problems......I just want to let you know. If you have emailed me in the last week or so and have NOT heard back from me - PLEASE check your Junk folder (Spam folder, Bulk folder...whatever it's called on your email).

Here's what's happening with some of the emails that I am sending....
1) Some of my emails are going to spam files...why, I don't know...
2) Some of my emails are not being delivered at all and I am not being informed of this....
3) Some of my emails are getting bounced back and I'm getting a Failure notice...Charter.net is one of the servers that is at least telling me.
4) If I send an email to myself...it's going to my Junk file...and darn it...I'm not junk!!!!

I spent 2 hours on the phone today trying to get it through to my email provider that it is a problem on my end and not yours....I think I finally drove that point home....but I have to wait up to 48 hours for Yahoo to contact me.

SO...if you have sent me an email and are waiting for a response...I sent the response and you are just not receiving it....PLEASE call me to let me know and please call your internet provider and ask them why they are not letting my emails through to your account.

IT'S A MYSTERY!!!!! But I will get it fixed in the next 3 days or so. My last resort is to call and pay my wonderful I.T. guru to come figure it out! Never fear...I will appear in your inbox again!
