Today's economy continues to pose challenges-and opportunities! A recent CNN news report noted that many people who had planned on careers in what they considered traditional, secure areas are considering other choices now, often choices that include things they love.
"As job security from corporate America fades, [people] see the economic downturn as an unexpected chance to transform hobbies or youthful fantasies, once-dubbed impractical, into grown-up careers," the reports states.
The article also noted that professionals are realizing the prescribed path of a college degree leading to a lucrative job may no longer exist and even the "soundest" professions, such as banking and law, appear fragile.
Launching a new venture in this climate is "better than doing nothing," the report notes. "It may not be as glamorous or prestigious as what you had been doing before you lost your job, but it may well save you."
