"10 Things I Love" Scrap Pages

I finally got my "10 Things" pages filled in with pictures! The large picture of me is a funny little story.....we were on our way back from a North Dakota fishing trip. Traveling in an RV allows for alot of fun and silly stuff too!!!! I WON the Yahtzee game and found my niece's little tiara and decided that I was THE QUEEN OF YAHTZEE! It only seemed fitting, as I was the QUEEN OF THE LUND (my dad's boat) all week too! You know...as someone drove the boat through the campground to the boat launch....I sat in the tall seat in the back and did my "royal wave!"

Baby Onsie Tutorial

This Baby Onsie card is all the rage right now!!!! Isn't it adorable??? I was given one by Lisa K and fell in LOVE!

Ingredients
Stamps: So Many Scallops; Full of Life; Background Basics (stars)
Ink: Mellow Moss
Cardstock: Mellow Moss; Whisper White
Accessories: Scallop Punch; Moss Taffeta; Dimensionals; 1 3/8" Circle Punch

Cut cardstock 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" - Score at 5 1/2" and fold in half.

Make yourself a little template out of a cereal box that looks like this. The fold is at the top:

Stamp up your card front:

Using the 1 3/8" Circle Punch - punch out a hald circle in the top folded edge of your card for the neck hole. Put a mark on your circle punch to show a half circle:

Punch out holes for each leg by centering the punch on each bottom corner like this:

Now your card will look like this:

Punch out a 3/4 scallop for neck and legs (3 of them):

Put adhesive around the very edge of your 3/4 scallop and attach to your leg and neck holes:

Turn your card to the back - use the 1 3/8" circle punch to punch out the white cardstock:

With scissors - trim off the little white pieces that are sticking out:

This is what your card looks like now - repeat this process for all three scallops.

Tie Taffeta Ribbon around card front and layer image over top in the center of the chest area with Dimensionals. See 1st photo for finished card.

March Scrap Pages

Here's the layout that my scrapbookers did for March. I LOVE the Good Egg stamp set!!! I always make my pages first and then go look for photos to go with them....why you might ask???? That's the hard way! Because that's what my scrapbookers have to do - so it only seems fair that I do the same thing!

Little background on my photo choices....as usual - there's a story behind these bizarre pictures....my mom and dad were not home for Easter (they are truck drivers and got stuck in Seattle)...so Mike (family friend) told everyone that if they couldn't get home - he would cook the Easter dinner! We all found this slightly amusing...because we've never seen Mike cook much of anything....so it was a challenge that he took on...especially since my mom and dad are both GREAT cooks!

My family normally wouldn't go up north if my parents weren't going to be around - BUT my husband and daughter had turkey permits for that weekend - YES - that is important stuff! Bright and early on Easter morning he and daughter Hailey went out in search of the trophy Tom. When Hailey arrived back from a very disappointing and freezing cold hunt - she was greeted with bright colored eggs everywhere outside. So the hunt began and that bunny did a pretty good job!

There's a little story behind the picture of her with her eggs on the left page - center picture at the very left (above my husband)....we acutally laughed about it again as I was putting these photos on the page! The photo is taken out the kitchen window....because...well....I wasn't going outside in the freezing cold! My friend Terri and I were watching her search for eggs as she walked by that window and gave us a HUGE grin - when she simply disappeared from sight! As she looked up at the window, she kept walking and tripped over a large landscaping rock and smashed to the ground! LOL LOL LOL I'm laughing as I'm typing this! It's an understatement to say she was slightly embarrassed! But she picked herself up, smashed eggs, broken pride and all and continued until she found every single egg! These are the stories that need to be told on scrap pages - because believe me - in 10 or 15 years, you won't remember those things!

OK - back to the dinner. The photos on the right side page display a beautiful example of what Mike did to my mother's beautiful stove....you can see the potatoes boiling over and the mess that it left on the stove top and then there's the picture of the over mitt he burned holes in and one of him examining his hand that also got burned....I had a picture of the huge mess on the counter top too, but that wouldn't fit on the pages....I took all these pictures with the intention of showing my mom - "THE STOVE NAZI" - what a mess we made out of her kitchen while she wasn't there!!! LOL My mom is a little funny about her stove...the minute something spills in the oven - she's harrassing my dad (who likes to make messy apple pies) and wiping it up right away....well maybe that's not so unusual for most people...but for me, it takes all the fun out of having the smoke alarm go off when cooking pizza! LOL My mom's also been called the "BOOT NAZI" - with a house full of hunters every time she's home...that's not a real big surprise!

One time Terri and I pulled the kitchen table into the living room so we could watch TV while we stamped too! I took a picture of that and emailed it to her to show her what we do to her house when she's not there! She got a pretty good kick out of it too!

Back to the meal.....regardless of the fiasco getting it done...our Easter dinner was absolutely FABULOUS! Mike did a GREAT job and we were all VERY greatful....especially me - because I hate to cook! Way to go, Chef Mike!

Back to the pages....

This is where I got my inspiration for the layout. I love working from sketches and this one came on a junk mail packet. Here's the sketch and below is a picture of sample pages using the sketch.

Demo Gathering!!!

WOW - I hosted a demonstrator shoebox swap tonight - we had a GREAT time!!!!! Thanks to all who attended. Once I downloaded my pictures - I realized that I didn't get any pic's of all the people! I need to put someone else in charge of the camera next time - DARN IT!

To add a little MORE fun to the evening, I asked everyone to bring something that they would give to their workshop hostesses as a gift or make as a doorprize. Here are some photos of the hostess gifts/door prizes that each demo brought.

I can't give credit to each person for their items (because I don't know who all these belonged to) and some of my pictures were blurry so I don't have all the items either...not using my own camera tonight...but I'll give a few details....
This little jewel is a mini scrapbook album. It has several 6x6 page protectors inside to make a scrapbook album....these are GREAT for a trip or family outting or just a fun day at the park.

I don't really know what I was trying to accomplish with this picture - maybe it was an "opps" but I did get a little bit of several items. The altered can and the gift box were very pretty. And I got half of the wall hanging photo holder - it's the round hot pink and lime green thing. Rachael used rub-ons to embellish it - she said it was from Target and it's made out of a leather feeling type plastic. What a GREAT way to show how COOL our rub-0ns are!

Julie A made this box with an entire set of matching cards inside! This is one of Andrea Walfords' class projects that she offers. Love the use of the designer paper!

I didn't get to look inside this one....but I'm pretty sure it's an altered journal. LOVE the colors and the use of this stamp set. What a wonderful gift!

How adorable is this????? Cathy M made this little beauty....it's a JUMBO Acco Fastener, covered with designer paper and adorned with the chick and egg from the Good Egg stamp set. You can use this to hold a note or put a photo in it.

I asked everyone to bring projects that they had made for stamping events, etc. to share ideas. I'm not sure who brought this altered clipboard - but it sure was pretty!

And here's my contribution....this is a DVD tin. I ordered them from a company...can't think of the name right now. I covered the front with the Western Sky Designer Paper and the scallop punch is stamped with a stamp from the WANTED stamp set. LOVE that Jumbo Eyelet in the middle! Those are so fun! I used the 3/16" corner rounder to punch those corners - it was a perfect fit.

And here's what's inside of the tin!!!! A mini legal pad, matching pen and a bookmark. The mini legal pad had to be cut down about 1" to fit inside the case. I took it to a local printing store - they cut about 25 of them for $3.00 - total, not each.

I'll try and get some time to load some of the cards we made tonight in the next day or two. Thanks for looking!

10 Things I LOVE!

Here are the pages that my scrapbooking group did in February. My theme was "10 Things I LOVE." I challenged them to make these pages about themselves....and not to use their kids, pets, family, etc. for their "LOVE" items. I can't wait to find pictures to fill this in.

I think this will be a set of pages that my grandchildren can look back on and know something about me, other than the usual.....I love being a mom, I had a good sense of humor, I was opinionated...blah blah blah....

I asked my daughter and husband to offer up some suggestions to "things I love" and I was pleasantly surprised by their answers....

Hubby gave me:

Taking pictures, my swimming pool, and planting flowers.....

My daughter gave me:

bear hunting and soccer......

I had a pretty big list and this is what my journaling says:

I love so many things....
I love bear hunting; I
love tropical vacations;
I love stamping and
taking pictures; I love
watching soccer games
and growing flowers;
I love bow hunting and
beautiful doors on houses;
I love my swimming pool
and candles; I love life!

Ingredients:
Stamps: Short Order Alphabet & Numbers; Unfrogettable (i love); Watercolor Vine Wheel
Ink: Mellow Moss Jumbo Ink Cartridge; Mellow Moss & River Rock Ink
Cardstock: River Rock; Taken With Teal; Soft Sky
Accessories: Stamp a ma jig; River Rock Double Stiched Ribbon; Vintage Brads; Chipboard; 1" & 3/4" Circle Punches

Dimensions:
River Rock - 1 @ 7 1/2" x 5 1/2"; 1 @ 2 3/4" x 3 1/2"; 9 @ 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"; 1 @ 1" x 12"
Taken with Teal - 1 @ 1 1/4" x 12"

Make sure you use the jumbo wheel before you cut the cardstock up - makes things much easier!!! I rubbed my chipboard in my River Rock ink pad and then used the wheel on it. I also used a Mellow Moss Marker on the Unforgettable stamp that says "have i toad you lately that i love you?" and I just used the "i love" part on my title strip behind the "10 THINGS."

Hilarious!

It was Lutheran Schools week and my darling daughter had a blast!!!! The CRAZY hair was for clash day and the doctor uniform worked out GREAT for career day - she wants to be an anesthesiaologist (Idon't even know how to spell that!!!) and then we had hats, sunglasses & stuffed animal day.
