Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

I just had to share this recipe with you - this will be the best Turkey dinner you ever served!!!!
Ingredients:
1 whole turkey
1 large lemon, cut into halves
salt and pepper to taste
butter or olive oil, whichever you prefer
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees
  • Rub butter or oil over the skin of the turkey until it is completely coated.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper and any other seasonings you prefer.
  • Take a knife and gently separate the skin from the breast meat;
  • Slide lemon halves under the skin with the peel side up, one on each side.
  • This way the juice from the lemon will release into the breasts.
  • Cover and bake for 30-45 minutes.
  • Remove cover and continue to roast until juices run clear, basting every 15-20 minutes.

  • If you've followed these steps correctly, your turkey should look like the one in the picture.
  • Bon Appetit!
Thanks Denise for this fantastic recipe!!!!

Simple & Black & White Swap

Hey ~ getting away from the Christmas stuff here....but here's another swap going out in the mail today!!!! The theme of this swap was BLACK & WHITE...then it was modified a little to be BLACK & WHITE or CLEAN & SIMPLE. I went with both!!!!

The strip down the side uses the GORGEOUS Night & Day Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I made one of each - one side of this beautiful paper is a darker design and the other is more faded and floral.

It's hard to see - but the circle that says "Friend" is adhered to the inside of the card through a 1 3/4" window.... I LOVE WINDOW CARDS!

I decided to go with this one....I like the "fade-out" on this side of the DSP.

Ingredients:
Stamps: Simple Friendship; Thank You Kindly
Ink: Basic Black;VersaMark
Cardstock: Basic Black; Whisper White; Night & Day DSP
Accessories: 1 3/4” Circle Punch; Faux Stitching Template; Black Grosgrain; White Embossing Powder
Dimensions:
Whisper White Card Base - 11" x 4 1/4"
Basic Black - 3/4" x 4 1/4"
DSP - 1" x 4 1/4"

Simple Directions:

  1. Fold your card base in half;
  2. Cut 1" off the right edge of the front;
  3. Stamp greeting in Basic Black ink on bottom right of card front;
  4. Adhere your Basic Black strip (3/4" x 4 1/4") to the front edge;
  5. Using the Faux Stitching Template and Pokey Tool (paper piercer - HEE HEE) - poke holes down the edge;
  6. Adhere DSP strip to inside right edge of card base;
  7. Stamp "FRIEND" image in VersaMark ink on Basic Black cardstock scrap, dust with White Embossing Powder and heat set;
  8. Punch with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch;
  9. Punch hole through the front of the card at the top left;
  10. Adhere embossed image through the hole to the inside of the card - TA DA!

Digital Scrapbook Page

OK - how cute is this???? This page was made by Jennifer Wiemann. Jennifer shared this with one of my Yahoo Groups and I fell in love with it! Her color choices, stamp choices, layout and embellisments are PERFECT!

And the best part about this page - it's all digital! THAT'S RIGHT!!!! She made the entire page with Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio digital scrapbooking software. HOW COOL IS THAT???

ATTENTION STAMPERS: If scrapbooking is something that you've not ventured into....because you just don't have enough time....it's too overwhelming....you don't know where to begin - THIS IS THE ANSWER!!!!

You can sit down in an afternoon or evening and make an entire album! You can upload your pages to Stampin' Up!'s professional printers and your pages, calendars or books will arrive in your mailbox! Want it instantly - print it yourself! You can also have your pages bound in a REAL hardcover book too (see the video below). Let's preserve those memories and make them look like you had a publisher on your payroll!!! LOL!

This is an incredible gift for anyone! Kids and teenagers would have a BLAST with this too! Some themes that may interest you:
  • That special vacation....
  • That super fun camping trip...
  • Your childs' school sports career....
  • A birthday book for the last 10 years...
  • A recipe book with photos of the dishes....
  • A Christmas book of Christmas past....
  • A book of quotes with your favorite flower garden photos...
  • Photos of mom for Mother's Day...
  • Don't forget dad too....
  • Hunting trips (that's for me)....
  • Graduation....
  • New baby photos...
  • Family Reunions...
  • Anniversary Parties...
  • The ideas are ENDLESS!

    Year's ago, when my daughter-in-law was moving down to Georgia to be with her new Army husband, I made a framed photo collage of all her favorite places - I ran around town and took photos of Menasha High School, her place of employment, the street sign on her street, her house, her favorite stomping grounds, her friends & family, etc....some were silly, some were sentimental - but it was a way to take a little bit of "home" with her! A bound book like this would have been a keepsake to be cherished forever! Decor for your walls will come and go...but a book???
